Wellstone’s Pediatric Emergency Services Center is a groundbreaking facility, one of the first of its kind in Alabama and among the earliest nationwide, created to address the critical need for accessible mental healthcare for children and adolescents in North Alabama. Prior to its opening, more than 800 young patients were transported out of the county each year to receive crisis care. This innovative center now serves as a specialized alternative to overcrowded emergency departments, offering a compassionate, community-based solution that sets a new standard for pediatric behavioral health facilities.
